THE IMPORTANCE

of data

On Performance.
Is data analysis more important than the actual race day results or a trainer's intuition after decades in the industry? The answer is No! But data is the glue that connects race day performance, training performance and a trainers intuition together. Data analysis isn't the be all and end all of performance, but all good things come to those who use it.

On Welfare.
If only a horse could talk! Well it can via the data. An elevated heart rate at the beginning of training, a shortening of stride length, changes in stamina and recovery times can all point to a medical issue. Identifying such signs early can have an enormously positive impact on the welfare of the horse.

so What can we ACTUALLY do for you?

Data Platform Set-up: Is your data platform set up correctly and capturing all the necessary data? If the data input is of poor quality, the results are likely to be even worse. Get things right from the start.

Tailored Reports and Analysis: Be it daily, weekly or monthly … have all the vital information at your fingertips such as top speeds, sectionals over different speeds, heart rate recovery times, fitness levels and stride length & frequency which can determine race strategy or possible injuries.

Simplified Easy to Understand Visuals: Having all the data is one thing … having it presented and designed in a format that is easy and fast to understand is priceless. Consume more data faster and make decisions quickly with confidence.

Head to Head Comparisons: Your intuition tells you that two or more horses are similar in ability, but results are proving that wrong. Use the power of comparing data to create the right training and race strategy for each horse.

Technology Advice: Many staff within stables have a passion for horses and working in the industry. Software and tech might not be a strength. Software is best used when streamlining simple repetitive tasks. As an example, think about the horse naming process with owners … could this be done in an easier way? Is there a piece of software that can help? What other tasks are frustratingly repetitive?

Deliver great value: A full time data analyst or data scientist in industries outside of horse racing can command up to 200K /year pretty easily these days … yes, ridiculous! That can scare many people away. Steeple is here to help the small to medium stables with affordable services that focus on flexible and fractional time commitments, whilst still achieving your goals.
